Joe Pignotti scored three touchdowns and kicked four extra points in leading the St. Joseph football team to a convincing 40-0 Midwest Classic Conference victory over The Hope School in Milwaukee Friday night.
Pignotti, a senior, sandwiched a pair of scoring runs around a touchdown catch as the Lancers improved to 3-4 (2-3 MCC). "Overall, we are starting to play better," St. Joseph coach Jim Kenesie said. "We are improving each week. We executed well tonight."Pignotti's first score - a 1-yard run - came on the Lancers' opening drive with 8 minutes, 53 seconds left in the first quarter."He did a great job for us," Kenesie said. "He set the tone early."St. Joseph started pulling away in the second quarter thanks to an 11-yard TD pass from Luke Olson to Pignotti and a 5-yard run by Pignotti. The Lancers' final score of the quarter was set up by Dylan Fout's interception.Dom Tirbassi scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter and Ian Neville's 11-yard run in the fourth quarter capped the scoring.St. Joseph limited 0-6 Hope to seven first downs and 118 yards in total offense."Defensively, we played well," Kenesie said. "We held them to under 100 yards rushing. When that happens, it is a total team effort. I am pleased with that."

The Lancers play their final home game of the season Friday night at 7pm at Ameche Field against St. Cats.
