Cross Counrty

St. Joseph's first Midwest Classic Conference Cross Country Meet was a memorable one. The St. Joseph boys finished second out of 15 complete teams, while the girls finished fourth out of nine complete teams Saturday at UW-Parkside.


St. Joseph senior Jake Hansen finished second out of 145 runners in 16 minutes, 58 seconds - six seconds behind Jajuan Tyler of Racine St. Catherine's. "Jake has had a great senior year," St. Joseph coach Jon Furreness said.St. Joseph senior Matt Bronk also won All-MCC honors with a seventh-place finish (17:30).John Kolanko (23rd, 18:29), Sean Gallagher (28th, 18:42) and Ryne Scopp (29th, 18:45) were all in the top 30 to round out the Lancer scoring."We were hoping to be a little closer to Brookfield Academy," Furreness said. "We'll see them again at the sectional next week."

For the girls, Katie Loef finished 10th with a time of 17:12 to lead the Lancer Girls. Katie was also named to the All-MCC Team. Battling illness, Katherine Wajrowski finished 13th in 17:31 forthe girls and Maggie Beal was 14th in 17:32.


The Lancers compete Saturday at 1:00 at Parkside in the Sectional Meet with hopes of winning a place in the State Tournament. GO LANCERS!!!
