Collins Nets 100

Jeff Collins scored all of St. Joseph's goals and scored his 100th goal in the process as the St. Joseph soccer team trimmed host Christian Life 3-2 in a Midwest Classic Conference game. Collins opened the scoring with his milestone goal in the 32nd minute off an assist from Jared Becraft. "He's talented and he's played for many years," St. Joseph coach Peter Iliev said of Collins. "He's just an upper level player. He will be a good player at the college level. Plus, he's strong physically. "Collins and Kris O'Toole hooked up again, this time in the 45th minute, before CLS got a goal from J.J. Ventura (Philippe Duplessy assist) in the 50th minute. Six minutes later, Collins closed the Lancers' scoring with an unassisted goal. CLS accounted for the final with a goal by Ventura and an assist by Dan Rozema in the 72nd minute. St. Joseph outshot CLS 21-10 and had Joe Parise and Steve Gadjos split time in goal. The Lancers are 15-6 overall and 8-4 in the MCC. CLS dropped to 3-14 and 1-8 in MCC. The Lancers finish there home season at 7pm on Wednesday.
